I started out my career in high school, working part time at Jostens' as a staff artist and expecting to go back there after some post high school. I did just that, but the lure of the big city and dabbling with different materials that had nothing to do with my work was hard to overcome.
Moving to Minneapolis landed me in some sweet situations. Book publishing, teaching drawing, newspaper illustration, giftware design, costume design, and finally painting and sculpting works for sale. Though my formal education didn’t go beyond technical school for commercial art, I would never call myself “self taught” in any of these areas. It was good fortune to meet the right people in the right working environment here and there. I owe a great deal of my success to many generous people and I will never forget any of them for that. Recently, I have completed a course on web design at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and have added it to my repertoire.
Now I live with my favorite teacher, my husband Michael , photographer extraordinaire, and we have a photo/graphics studio in our home in southern Minnesota. I have many interests, and my art carries me there most of the time. Aside from painting and illustration, I love to play with our animals, bird watch, work in our garden, watch movies, study history, and home improvement.
